Our Goal:

To support the Shawnee Mission East High School girls basketball program, its players and coaches.  Our goal is to provide year-round financial support to the program to ensure its success.  We strive to create a winning environment  for the players, coaches, students, parents and fans in the SME community.

Our Philosophy:

The Lady Lancer Booster Club was established with the purpose of serving all of the girls basketball players in the program in a way that will enhance their overall high school experience and make a lasting positive impact on their lives. Our Booster Club performs a variety of activities that will aid the girls basketball program financially, so that we may run a first-class program and serve our Lancer community proudly!

A Message from Coach Lawrence:

"A well organized and operated booster club is key for the success of our girls basketball program at Shawnee Mission East High School. We want our players to experience success both off and on the court. Together, with the booster club, we pledge to use all of our resources to give the players an opportunity to develop into an outstanding basketball players, students, and citizens. The Lady Lancer Booster Club plays a pivotal role in serving our teams, and I am excited to work with each and every one of you throughout the process!"

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: What are some examples of events/activities that the Booster Club is responsible for?
A: The Free Throw Derby is the primary fundraising event that the Booster Club organizes each year. These funds, in the past, have been used for large purchases such as new Under Armour game and practice uniforms.

Q: What is the Booster Club not responsible for?
A: Team dinners and snack bags. These events are done on a volunteer basis, however the Booster Club can be contacted to help support team bonding activities. For example, in the 2017-2018 season the JV/Varsity teams held a Holiday White Elephant gift exchange at Buca di Beppo on the Country Club Plaza.

Q: What are some plans for this upcoming season?
A: Our priority "wish list" for this coming season includes: new basketballs, off-season training with Coach Donald Leaper, binders and dividers for scouting reports, pennies for scrimmaging, hotels for the Varsity tournament held at Shawnee Heights, Lancer Day Float supplies, a video highlight film for the banquet, Under Armour travel bags for the Freshman and Developmental teams, and scorebooks for the season.

Q: How can parents get involved?

A: At "Meet the Coach" Night parents will be able to sign up for volunteer opportunities (see list above). Your help is very appreciated!

Q: Who do I contact if I want to get involved in the Booster Club?
A: Any of the Booster Club Officers. Our president for the 2018-2019 season is Senior, Jordan Yowell's father, Jeff Yowell (jyowell@getterfarms.com). Feel Free to contact Coach Lawrence (laurenlawrence@smsd.org) with any questions as well.
